Kakaroto torna a parlare del proprio jailbreak, se così si puo chiamare, in quanto non è un vero e proprio jailbreak della console ma serve a far funzionare homebrew su firmware 4.00. Kakaroto aveva scoperta tale exploit su firmware 3.73, pochi giorni prima che Sony eseguisse l’aggiornamento 4.0. Tale exploit in seguito si è scoperto funzionare anche sul nuovo firmware rilasciato. A questo punto ci fu il caso Mathieulh, che condivise solo una parte del proprio lavoro lasciando Kakaroto stizzito e abbastanza irritato. Da allora il developer non è più tornato sulla vicenda jailbreak fino ad oggi, infatti tramite un post ha voluto chiarire diversi argomenti e aggiornare tutti sullo stato del proprio lavoro.
Following my clarifications from almost 2 months ago here, there has been a lot of progress. We have not been slacking off, we’re a group of about 10 developers working together for the last 2 months, for sometimes 15 hours everyday in order to bring back homebrew support to the latest version of the PS3.
Il suo intervento inizia dicendoci che durante questi due mesi il lavoro sul progetto è andato avanti. Dietro tutto questo c’è il lavoro di ben 10 developer che possono arrivare a lavorare anche 15 ore al gionro.
There are three major parts to the HEN, first, getting the packages to install on the PS3, that part is done, completed, tested, debugged, etc.. the second part is to get the apps to run, that one still has major issues… the last part is something I will not discuss for now (it’s a surprise) but it’s about 60% to 70% done (and it has nothing to do with peek&poke and has nothing to do with backup managers or anything like that. This is and will stay a piracy-free solution for the PS3).
In questo passaggio parla del lavoro svolto, dicendo che il completamento del jailbreak prevede tre stati; il primo ottenere i pacchetti per poter istallare su PS3, e questa fase è stata conclusa e testata. Il secondo riguarda l’ottenere applicazioni per far girare i pacchetti ottenuti, questa fase ha ancora dei problemi che devono essere risolti. La terza fase riguarda un progetto che kakaroto non vuole svelare, ma precisa che non riguarda in nessun modo peek and poke o backup di vario genere, ma ci fa sapere che questa fase è al 60-70% .
Now, running apps is the biggest challenge that we’ve been working on for the past 2 months. As some of you know, if you’ve been following me on Twitter, we originally had hoped for Mathieulh to give us the “npdrm hash algorithm” that was necessary to run the apps, but he was reluctant, he kept doing his usual whore so people would kiss his feet (or something else) so he’d feel good about himself. But in the end, he said that he refuses to give us the needed “npdrm hash algorithm” to make it work… So what I initially thought would be “this will be released next week” ended up taking a lot more time than expected, and we’re still nowhere near ready to make it work.
In questa parte del post si parla del caso Mathieulh, dove kakaroto lancia accuse pesanti , per il fatto che gli indizi dati dal francese hanno portato fuori strada e di conseguenza hanno fatto perdere un sacco di tempo a tutto il gruppo. Ma non è tutto in quanto gli stessi indizi non erano veritieri ( a detta di kakaroto).
When will the “jailbreak” be released? If I knew, I’d tell you, but I don’t know.. I would have said in last november, then december, then before christmas, then before new year, etc… but as you can see, it’s impossible to predict what we will find.. we might get lucky and have it ready in a couple of days, or we may not and it will not be ready for another couple of months.. so all you need to do is : BE PATIENT (and please stop asking me about an estimated release date)!
Dopo una lunga spiegazione del lavoro svolto arriviamo alla conclusione, infatti ladomanda che tutti ci facciamo è: ma quando sarà pronto il jailbreak?
Kakaroto risponde dicendo che potrebbe volerci una settimana come altri due mesi, chiede pazienza e sostegno. Inoltre chiede di non riempire le proprie caselle di domande inutili che farebbero perdere tempo e basta.
A questo punto non ci resta che far lavorare in tranquillità tutto il team di Kakaroto e sperare che il jailbreak possa vedere la luce il prima possibile.
